There have been a few threads on this subject in the past, if you hunt around a bit.

Do Khyam still manufacture in the UK?

There are definitely some manufacturers in EU countries, particularly Holland.

Do you mean "made in the UK" or a company with a UK phone number ?

I think that you'll struggle with the former, but there are loads of British companies who have maufacturing operations overseas.

Fact of life-unless you want some bespoke canvas tent, and an overdraft , then tents are manufactured overseas, mainly Asia . The next best is to support a firm that is based here, though you have to tread carefully about which company holds which other company . As far as I know Vango fits the bill the best-Khyam has been sold on to I believe a firm with offices in Hong Kong . Gelert is the only other that comes this close .

Do the British-based companies have their own 'manufacturing operations overseas', or do they just sub-contract everything to companies in China or wherever (in much the same way that companies like Nike operate).

Personally I'd happily pay more for a tent - or anything else - to have some certainty that it isn't being made by children working 16-hour shifts.
