Hi People

  • Cooking 17

We are brand new to camping, please help us. Can you advise where to use a gas ring hob for cooking. There are options, buy another tent to cook in, cook in the extension, or use a gazebo with wind breakers. Just need to know the best and safe way please. We have seen some horrible shots on you tube tent fires. We hear (YOU HOULD NEVER COOK IN TENTS).

  • Security 17

Second point. What do you do for security, whilst away walking, or driving around. Do people just zip their tents shut.... If i left cooking stuff in my extesion, would it go missing.

  • Last point. Costs

What is the price range out there for camping pitches. Per night. Is it cheaper to block book two weeks. Can anyone recommend a really nice site either in Devon or Cornwall, must be nice with electric hook ups.

morning!

cooking - always try to cook out of the main tent, try using a utility tent or windrbreak with shelters attached.

security - it only takes a stanley knife to cut through the canvas / polyester of the tent, if people want to get in - they will. i wouldnt bother using padlocks or whatever on the zips, its just kind of advertising that you are protecting somethinginside. campers are a friendly bunch and will generally look out for others.

costs - depends what you are looking for! do you want a nice quiet site with wild animals around or one with a bar / swimming pool / games room etc?

you are more likely to get a response for the campsite in devon / cornwall by posting a new topic here..

Hi - we're new to camping this year too

    * Cooking
We have a cooking stove on its own stand and just use windbreaks. No cover, so no cooking when it rains and we find a pub!!

    * Security
We've left our cooker out when we've left the tent and not had any problems. We keep valuables (purses,phones etc) either in the bed pods or in the glovebox of the car.
    * Last point. Costs
We've paid £12-15 per night.

Search the site finder to find sites most of the have reviews from people which have been accurate for us so far.

The dates below peoples names are the dates/places they have been camping.

Have fun

Thanks All. That helps us loads.

Liz. How do you find your tent, any issues ? We are in the process of buying the lot, tent xl, f/print, carpet, extension. How long to pitch, any issues in the wind ?

Regards.
