after finally deciding on the Horizon 6 or Zenobia 6 I surfed & phoned lots of shops-all sold out looked on ebay who had 2 sellers (price higher than on-line who still had the Horizon in stock) most sites sold out on the cheaper end, yet ebay had 2 sellers of which 1 had 7 tents the other had 9 tents 1 of which stated name as winfields however winfields have non in stock Mmmm
This appears to me that they have bought cheap & due to demand are hiking up the prices this should be somehow stopped! However have managed to buy the 2008 Horizon 6 for £149.99 on line, did want the 2009 however won't be ripped off!

Jan, so long as the tents are being sold at, or below, the manufacturer's recommended retail price....how can it be a rip off? I'm all for buying cheap, but on-line shopping is really screwing up proper shops who can't compete once on-line retailers cut prices lower and lower.
You may also find that Winfields show none in stock in the their on-line shop, but have them listed on ebay for clearance. It definitely seems to be the same Winfields.
Totally agree with both comments, after days/hours of surfing have got an Horizon 6 2008 for £149.99! Just annoying that they are being sold on ebay for more than you can get on line, then on line are cheaper & sold out! Price of technology
Due to the credit crunch tents are in high demand, 1st time for me in years, 1st time ever for my 8yr old, loved it can't wait to go again.

Im with the retailer, one simple phrase "supply and demand". put your self as the retailer, you know for a fact your one of the last few stockists that have a high demand item. Your not going to put it out cheaply your going to try and get what you can what you can for it make as much money as possible. same as if you were selling something private you would want to get as much as you can get for it
Always the same when xmas comes around and there is that 1 childrens toy that everyone wants but parents cant get. of course they will up the price.
I agree you would want as much as you can get for it however my gripe with ebay is that sellers bulk buy items & flog them for more which stops people being able to buy them from the retailer at the price the retailer was selling them for, another is example concert tickets they sell for ridiculous amounts compared to if they hadn't bulk bought then people could get them at the right price.
Yes supply & demand, can't blame them for wanting to make a living however it's still very frustrating!
Guess that's also a problem brought about by the internet - it's so easy now for people to bulk buy and then sell on ebay, and it's so easy for the customers to just go to the internet and buy rather than going to a shop. Mind you, if people do bulk buy at a heavy discount from a retailer, then they are perhaps keeping the retailer in business by helping them shift stock. And so long as the people who bulk buy and sell on actually then spend the money they make (as opposed to hiding it in some offshore bank) then they are also helping shops where they spend, and it all helps the economy go round.
But I agree - it is frustrating when you can't find what you want.

I found my tent on ebay cheaper than it was sold out online in many places, cheaper than it was still for sale in many places. some still selling at £150 more! The price matched the sellers proper online store but the postage was cheaper. No rip off felt at all.
