Hi all,

I have brought a new Montana 6 yesterday (went to buy another tent but loved this one instead).  We have not brought the canopy yet as I was hoping that I could source the front extension, although searching the whole internet I think we will be getting the canopy anyway (unless anyone knows of a secret stash?? lol).

I originally thought that perhaps I would keep my 'tent' kitchen in the side porch,  because I do want it inside and out the way from the kids, but would it be better near one of the windows??  I just can't decide.

I just wondered where you all put your 'tent' kitchens??..........

17 Thank You 17

We now cook in the extension but if you look at my profile picture you can see we have cooked in the tent but only when the pitch size didn't allow us the room for the extension. Both my kids are sensible around the kitchen area as they're 13 and 9 but if you have smaller ones I'd think twice about the kitchen inside. The porch area is probably too low for you to cook in and as the roof slopes may make it too close to a stove for comfort/safety. What about a separate utility tent if you're kids are really young, at least you can zip it up and keep them out.

If you have a problem stressing you, sort it. If you can't, there's no point worrying about it coz it won't make a blind bit of difference!!!! Jules

We have cooked inside the Monty 6 but now have the extension and use that.

I was a bit nervous about cooking in the tent and got quite paranoid about grandson being well away from the cooking area.  Wherever you cook, it is a naked flame near fabric with a potential risk involved.  You need to minimise that risk as far as possible.

Thanks for all the ideas and tips!!

Peggy I love your kitchen pics they're great and wow so organised....

We have had a trial run putting up our Montana (nice and easy to put up - just what I like), and think we will definitely be joining the cooking outside gang - although with a canopy and windbreak, well untill I can find an extension anyway!!

Happy Camping!!
