We just discovered a large hole (several inches in diameter) in the flysheet for our tent. Our own fault - bad storage after a hurried return home. Can someone recommend the best way to fix it? We can sew a patch on (we have a sewing machine able to do it), but is there a particular fabric we should use? Could we get it at a regular camping store?

On the other hand, if it's not worth repairing, is it possible to use a replacement fly sheet, since it wouldn't be perfectly fitted to the tent? We've looked but can't see anywhere just selling fly sheets.

Thanks for any help you can give.

We had a small tear & i picked up some nylon sticky patches - about four for £2.99 that were about 2" x 8" at a camping shop. there were various colours in the packet.

I just stuck a patch on the inside - you might need a couple but you could probably put a couple on one side & a couple on the outside?? dont know if this helps?

Hi Tonyneilcole & welcome to the forum 17

I'll second what Carole suggests. Tenacious tape will cost you up to £5 for enough to repair your flysheet & probably some to spare. Just cut two circles, larger than the hole. Put one circle sticky side up on a flat surface, and carefully place the ripped section onto it, smoothing down the tear so that the fabric comes together. Then place the other circle on the top. It's a good clear tape which will not show up much, but it will last for ages.

Thanks very much for the suggestions, I'll look into the Tenacious Tape and the patches.

We had to repair the roof of our Monty 6 with tenacious tape last season and did as suggested, circles on both sides and it's still holding strong and you can barely see it. Not leaked yet touch wood. Go Outdoors sell it amongst others.

If you have a problem stressing you, sort it. If you can't, there's no point worrying about it coz it won't make a blind bit of difference!!!! Jules
