I pitched my new "Indian Lake" for the first time a couple of days ago. When I took it down, I just rolled it up losely, brought it home and hung in my stairwell to make sure it was bone dry. I tried to pack it away this morning and managed to get it into the bag but it is much bigger than it was before I took it out. Part of the problem is that I was trying to fold it in my livingroom which is not nearly big enough to allow me to begin with a fully stretched out canvas. I am reluctant to lay the canvas out on grass (because of moisture) or on concrete or tarmac (because of the risk of damaging the fabric).Have any of you Indian Lakers out there developed any useful strategies for packing away these monsters, particularly in a relatively small space such as a livingroom. Help!!!!!!

Hi,
why not get a big cheap tarp and lay that on the grass and then fold your tent up on it.
We always fold our tent up on the footprit groundsheet,but as the IL is an odd shape you will neeed a big rectangular tarp to do do the job.

I hang my bell tent in the stair well. Being pointy, makes it so easy. I also always have a spare cheap poly ground sheet for folding up on.

I'd rather be kayaking.

I know this will possible add to your problems but if you can roll the tent up with the groundsheet zipped in. It will make pitching the tent next time super quick.

But where are you going to put the Fork lift truck needed to pick the whole lot up  

Seriously though........ I have thought about doing this with my TL, but one of the main advantages of the ZIG is that it means the tent stands a far better chance of being packed away dry and safe.
