Just come back after our first weekend away in our new tent the Royal Biarritz 9. My wife and I have not camped in many a years and only had our enthusiasm re-kindled after some friends who have a caravan persuaded us to go over the August bank holiday weekend after some other freinds lent us thier tent. We enjoyed the experience so after returning from this decided to buy our own tent as above. I would like to share this with the idea of helping any others like ourselves who decide to go back into camping after a number of years. Firstly the tent as mentioned is the Royal Biarittz 9. As the 9 indicates it is potencly a 9 bearth tent (3 persons in 3 seperate pods) but as I even remember this would be cramped with 9 persons gear so 6 is more realistic or a brilliant 4 berth. Now there is only the 2 of us but we are looking to the future when the grandchildren will be coming. To put up and set out with airbeds etc took us about 2.5 hours. Now I am sure that some of you may think this is a long time (yes we did do a trial run first) but putting all the guy ropes out ehu and lights and stove etc. I may in the future shave a little of the time but not much. the name Royal was a name that was not familiar to me so we were green in respect to overall quality although we had seen it erected. Whist not quite gale force winds we had 1 breasy wet night and it came through unscaved even though the wife had me up to check in the middle night because of creeks. All in all a pleasant start to our rejuvanated camping campaign. We are now even thinking of joining our caravan friends next year on their holiday to Spain. This site has played a part in our decision to enter the fray again so thanks to all the unknowns who played their part

Welcome to the site Steve, glad you had a good time! Maybe add some delta pegs to your camping gear, they are brilliant in windy conditions!
We have camped in Spain and France in the past few years, and it is so different from camping in the Uk. mainly because you can trust the weather so much more. Consequently sitting out in the evening is so lovely, very European
