Just as a thought - Have you considered the format of the steel poled, 5000HH Vango Columbia 600 £280 (excellent but being superceded by the more expensive Ituri 600 - still a few around) or the Vango Sungari 600. These have a four berth (splitable) inner and a separate 2 berth inner all lined up along the back of the tent. There is also bags of living space and a wet weather entrance to leave muddy boots and coats in. Our toddler has his playmat and cars on the floor and we can also cook and eat safely in the large living area of the tent. The four berth inner could take all of you whilst the children are young with the seperate two berth used as storage or loo area. Then one could go into the separate inner and you can let down the divider in the four berth to make two rooms?
Anyway - just an idea. There's a picture of the Columbia in our gallery images.

I have the 6 though we spent quite a bit of time looking at the 8. The 6 is a nice tent but if you are getting an Horizon beware the POLES, in our experience they are rather poor and split very easily. I think the poles on the 8 will probably be a bit thicker (ours are 11mm) and could be perfectly fine, but just wanted you to know. The 8 is a great size for your family though I don't know from the size if you would have problems with pitch sizes? I don't know. I haven't seen them for less than around £250 by the way, so thats probably a good price.

Hi,
We bought the Horizon 8 last year. It is a great tent with loads of room. We took it to Lincoln for a and got rained on most days - the inside of the tent stayed nice and dry so no issues with leaks. One thing I would recommend is the porch - good place to store shoes etc so that the inside of the tent stays a bit cleaner.

We had one- was very happy with it, but the first time we used the 'other' door, ie the one on opposite side to which we had used previously, the 'bug net' zip just broke up. We took it back to supplier who wouldve changed it, but didnt have any, and couldnt get another apparently. After much ar**ing about we changed it for a Kyham Ontario 8, same tent really, but minus the door on the end, and two big bedroom pods rather than one big and two small. I think both are lovely tents, but just a shame the Horizon let us down----

We've still got the gelert porch- its slightly the wrong colour for the Khyam, but so are our crocs, its invaluable!! Ours is the kitchen/ toy storage/ smoking room.
