I'm still pondering buying the Minnesota 4 as a weekend/short break tent. Does anyone know if there are any differences between the 2009 model and the new 2010 model? I appreciate the '10 model isn't available until Feb/March but am hoping some lucky people may have some inside info!!!
I've noticed some of the reviews on here mention issues with the tension created by the fibre-glass porch pole - is this the sort of thing that Outwell might improve on a newer model?
Thanks in advance.

No real change for the 2010 season but take a look at the Outwell Oakland range... easier to pitch and cooler more modern look and better value if you look at the Outwell Oakland XL. Similar in size the the Minny 6 but about the same price as the Minny 4.

Thanks for the advice - like the look of the Oaklands so I have a bit of a dilemma now!! Still liking the Minny but as I'd like to be able to pitch the tent alone I may well change my mind!
There,s a recent posting on here (page 3), where someone picked up a minnesota 4 (2009) for just under 180 quid, its got to be worth checking out at that price, they,ll be over 300 next year ! !
Thanks for this. I did a google search this morning and can't find anything better. I found the Taunton offer a couple of days ago but have been holding out... it's been very hard!! I keep wondering if the prices for the 2009 model will drop anymore?
I think I might just have to go for it (and hope it doesn't go down in price or I'll kick myself for not being patient!)
We don't have any problem with our Minny porch pole

2010
Easter - cancelled 8-(
April - Hawkshead
May - Riverside Cononley
May - Keswick Mountain Festival
May - High Yedmandale Farm
June - York Cycle show
August - Hartlepool
August - Riverside, Cononley
September - Pillaton "The Return"
I,d go for it, its very unlikely you will now find one anywhere else for less than £200, and, as already stated, they will be over £300 in feb. when they become available again. if you then decide you want the extension you will have a £100 start on the 2010 price for that, probably around £125.
I'd go for the Taunton offer. I've been watching tent prices all autumn and they are not being reduced as the stock is shifting, especially the lower price deals on popular tents (advertising the low price deals on this site makes them shift even quicker...)
Good luck !

Hi and thanks for all of your posts, you've helped me make my mind up... I have just ordered the Minny 4 from Taunton Leisure and am now very excited!! Will definitley be buying the extension so, as Mick RV mentions, I've got £100 towards it!
My next job is to start looking at campsites for weekend breaks...(am a getting a bit camping obsessed?!). It's taking my mind off how cold it is!! Roll on a nice long warm summer.
