We have been campinmg for a few years and moved from frame tents to finally a tunnel tent (Haven 800) for speed of erection, layout and living space.

Vango Tigris has good reviews for erection speed and can see why due to limited threading of poles and the living space looks good. However, a bit confused over tunnel extensions and "porches". We normally cook and eat outside under cover (Haven 800 sun canopy).

Please could somebody help on the options available with the Tigris especailly the exta large canopy e.g. does it have a door similar to the image on this site at http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/tents/userimages/1164.jpg

thanks.

Hi

The extension shown above is called the "Vango Tunnel Extension" and is by for the best extension for this tent, it has a zipped door that can be rolled up also. There is an open one called the "Vango Tunnel Sun Canopy".

These styles fit in the side of the tent as shown above. You can also buy the "Vango Premium Extension" which is an enclosed canopy but it fits on the end of the tent so you would have to not use one of the end bedrooms... Not great on this style of tent.

If you google any of these exact terms above you will find images... Im not aloud to link to my website as this would be against the forum rules for me to do this, which I totally agree with.

Regards

Gary Cross

Hi there, the pic the link goes to is our tent!! We brought it last year and love it. The extension is the "tunnel extension" which is a great addition to it. The other enclosed extension for it, fits on the end of the tent, not the side, so it would mean you cant use one of the end bedrooms! We found this out by buying the wrong one originally! We love the Tigris, easy to put up, loads of space, good on pitch space as rectangle (previously had a Hartford XL, which we loved but needed a BIG pitch space). Just for weekends we dont use the extension. We are a family of four, and it is great as it means me and the oh have a large bedroom for us, and the kids have a room each. When we brought our tent we got a good deal for the tent, footprint and carpet together. We do love the carpet!

If you want to know anything else please do ask.

Very usefull feedback, thanks.

Can the tunnel extension be fitted to either side? What is the fitting like to the main tunnel?

With the tigris what are the entrances like at foot level (with the Haven you can lower mud wall on one side but it uses 3 strips of velcro and after couple years not much use anymore)?

Does the Tigris have a good level of ventilation?

thanks

Hi jbrooks

Most Vango tents have drop down groundsheets at the doorways. The groundsheet is unbroken with any excess groundsheet forming a pleat when the groundsheet is raised (held up by toggles). When down, the groundsheet can be pegged down if desired.

Hi there, yes the extension can go on either side of the tent. It fits ok, some times better than others! We find the extension very sturdy. The mud wall can be lowered as described above. We have found the ventilation good, just a small amount of condensation in mornings, depending on weather condition!

Cant wait to get out in it again, needs to be a bit warmer first!!!
