Looking for a bit of advise please.

I have a Trout Lake and I am thinking about gettng the front extension. I know it will be really useful for the cooking/sitting in (rain and shine) BUT I am a little concerned about how these open ended canopies perform in the windy weather.

Your sage advice would be very much appreciated. And if anyone has one for sale, or knows where there's one going cheap..........?

Thanks in advance.

Always pitch with the open front facing away from prevailing winds & I added a couple of extra guys to the front of out Hartford porch to stop side sway. apart from that its fine.

I agree with Cliff n Pat  and listen to the weather forecast if its gonna get really windy they are easy enough to take down and store until the winds die down !

Thanks, I kind of knew to not point it into the wind, the same goes for a lot of things ha ha. Not thought about the extra guy's though - sounds like a good idea.

Has anyone had bad experiences with these "add ons" just seems to me like it could become a bit a sail?

We had a Outwell Montana 6 with front canopy in the worst winds in the Isle of Wight. Flattened tents all around us, but our Montana plus canopy was fine. It was scary, but now we know what it can stand - no worries!

Here you go, use the originals to go forward keeping the thing taught & the add ons go to the side to stop the sway. Use the same guying points.

Here Hook ups right next to the river with picnic tables & fires, we sat round the fire in pouring rain & the trees kept us dry, not the cheapest of sites but definately worth a visit.
