Hi, just got one of these tents for £334, which i think is a great price, anyone looking for a new tent take a look at the link, its rrp is much higher, it has a great living area and 4 bedrooms

http://www.campervanaccessories.co.uk/royal-pescara-green-p-1105.html

love the look of the panoramic windows in the 3m by 3m outside living area

happy camping

hi

thanks for the message, pleased to hear you love it

did you manage to put it up ok with the instructions given, cos i cant believe the size of the bags

also, i was a bit worried that it didnt include the canopy, but i opened the bag and seen the 2 big windows, so would you say that i have the canopy, i suppose they woulnt send the windows cos it would be pointless

how has the tent stood up to the elements, and have you had any problems fitting it on the pitches, we had a vango diablo 900 before, which was quite big, would you say this was bigger

thanks and happy camping

Pete

Hi, we had no trouble getting in up, the reviews on here helped alot and gave some good tips. The bags are big and heavy but it is very easy to erect with two of us. It also packs away quite quickly and fits inside the bag well, we pack ours away with the bedroom pods still in place and the zip in groundsheet left on.

One thing we did do was to buy another bag and then split the poles between the two bags to lighten the load as the pole bag was very heavy, this also helps on site as the poles are colour coded and we put the same color together in one bag.

We also got the footprint which helps when positioning the tent on site, this way you get to see how its going to fit on the pitch before having to erect the tent, it also helps to keep the groundsheet clean and gives an extra layer of insulation.

The canopy is made up by fixing 2 poles on the front of the tent then clipping the two side panels onto the poles, these have large clear windows in them, be careful though as there is a right and wrong way to fit these, they are slightly shorter one side and will not fit nicely if you have them the wrong way round, you will need to experiment until they fit right, we then marked ours on the inside to show which way round they went for next time. The canopy gives an excellent space for cooking under.

Our tent has stood up well to the elements, we did notice a bit of rain coming it on some of the seams the first time we used it, I think this is fairly common, it was quickly remedied with some seam sealant.

We haven't had any trouble with pitch sizes but then we always tell the site the size of the tent before we book to amke sure that we aren't disappointed when we arrive. It is a huge tent and gives excellent living space for a larger family (we are 5 + a dog) we get many admiring glances and a few people have asked to come in and have a look around.

Hope you enjoy the Pescara as much as we do.

hi bibster

thanks for the info, good suggestion on splitting the tent poles into 2 bags, will do that

So is the canopy attached to the front of the tent and you clip on the sides, thanks for letting me know id just put the sides on any-old-how

Its good to be able to ask someone who knows what they are doing, looked at it when it arrived and thought, my god, its massive, haha, and ive not got a footprint and carpet yet, where is it all going to go haha

Will definately take it somewhere to try it before we go camping, it will have to be a park or something cos i dont think we know anyone with a big enough piece of grass in their garden haha

thanks again

Pete

Hi pete, sorry for delay in replying. we've been away for a few days(not camping - still too cold for us!!)

The canopy zips onto the front of the tent at the top and then clips onto the horizontal and vertical poles that you fit onto the front of the main tent. you can leave the canopy off altogether if you want but we never have as it gives such a good 'outside' space.

Our footprint and carpet don't take up to much extra space and they are well worth having, we soon upgraded to a trailer and then changed that one for a bigger trailer as our equipment grew!! Definitely worth having a trial pitch before your first trip, we were lucky enough to know someone with a big enough garden to practice in. It is a huge tent but well worth it.

Hi Bibster

Thanks for the reply

I had a triial run with the tent yesterday in someones garden

What a laugh that was, we pitched the groundsheet onto the grass with the zip connectors at the front, then put the tent up onto the ground sheet with the zippers on the opposite side, lol, so we all had to grab a corner and do a 180 degree turn with the top of the tent, then we put it down again, then we tried to zip it up only to find that the straps on the tent had to go under the ground sheet so we had to lift the groundsheet and put it over the straps while in situ, then it was getting dark, so we didnt actually put up the porch area, but did connect the bedrooms before we packed it all away again, we also unzipped the porch roof and put that in the bag seperate, we were thinking of leaving it up til the next day, but glad we didnt as there was a couple of inches of snow thismorning.

We did have a problem getting one of the poles, i think a red one, seperated, but managed after a while with a light tapping of a mallet

really glad we put it up as its all in one now, with the bedrooms inside, and cant believe how easy it is to do all the poles

thanks for the info

hope you enjoyed your weekend

Pete

Glad to hear the trial run went ok, it really is a fantastic tent which I'm sure you will enjoy time and time again. I sometimes find the poles difficult to pull apart but generally its ok.

Heres hoping we both get a sunny camping season so we can enjoy it to its fullest.

it comes in two bags, one for the tent which is about 700x450x450
and one for the poles which is heavy -again about 700 long - we ended up splitting the poles into two bags- one has the main tent poles and the other for the canopy and rear porch poles, this cut the weight down and made lifting easier.

it's big but well worth it
