Hi,
Just bought a new tent (well second hand one) and as i am a newbie to camping i wondered what are the best type of pegs to get. It comes with the bog standard ones, but i am sure i read somewhere that its best to buy some good quality ones.....any suggestions ??........anyone ??? :-)

you need different pegs for different reasons!
groundsheet pegs - so the kids dont hurt their feet when they are walking inside
bright ones for outside - so the kids (or you) dont fall over them
thick metal ones like screws & v shaped ones for important guys that hold the whole tent up
deltas - for the tail end of a hurricane!! (believe me - i've been in one in the gower with the deltas & they really work) search for them on this site
which leaves you the little metal ones they give you with the tent to peg the bottom down!!!
good luck!
------------- Cheers Lor

Buy a few delta pegs for the main guides, do a search through threads and you will find out why they are a must for all campers

I'll second the recommendation for Deltas. Really clever pegs and worth every penny. if you value your tent - get deltas for your guylines. It will help you sleep easy at night. This time last year I was wondering what all the fuss was with Delta pegs - Now after using them I know exactly why people recommend them. They are brilliant.

I agree with the Deltas but I also carry a set of rock pegs when I camp - they are brilliant if the ground is stony or rock hard.

Rock pegs are a good bet too as some ground can look soft, till you realise your pegs are just not going in.
