Hello, our new Sun Valley 8 arrived today. We bought it along with the side extension and the carpet for £502. This seemed like a reasonable deal.....please tell me it was!!!
I have had a look at the carpet and there appears to be some kind of pull cord pouch attatched. Can anyone tell me what this is for???
Also does anyone know of a supplier of the footprint. I have been doing a bit of hunting and cannot find one anywhere.
Also any other hints or tips with this tent would be very much appreciated.
Regards David

We have one amongst our 'collection'
We don't have the carpet for it - we use a Monty 12 one - but I would suspect that it is where you attach the front bedroom inner to the floor.
Lay out your carpet in the tent and then put the front pod up.
The drawstring pouch will open up so that you can anchor the bedroom pod to it's anchor point on the floor.
Hope that makes sense to you
Can't help on the footprint either but it could be worth phoning a few places just in case they have the odd one still in stock.
You can mae your own, of course, from a big piece of tarp cut to size or pieces taped together.
Remember to make it slightly smaller all round than the actual tent fotprint so that rain/water won't get under the tent.
In terms of tips, the only advice I can offer is not to be depressed if your SV has a saggy rear - a lot of us suffer from it although there may be some expert advice on hand from a more experienced user.
If you look at the tent review section on here you can see plenty of pictures of the interior.

SunvalleySue seems to have got it right and no saggy rears there - still don't know how she manages it
Me neither.
I usually just pull the corners out till the pegging point lines up with the corner seam then peg out the rest.I also line the corner guys up with the corner seams.I hope this makes sense

You just can't quite see but where the kitchen leg is right in the bottom right of the picture - you cansee the front bedroom pod. If you were to follw it down to the floor then this is wher your drawstring bit would be and where you need to open it up so that you can fasten that bedroom pod corner into the toggle for it in the groundsheet
Once you get the tent up it will all become really easy to see how it works.
Thank you, we caught the bug last year when ( not being able to afford a 'proper' holiday ) we were given an old tent to try camping to see if we enjoyed it.
Unfortunately that tent died on the way out of the campsite but we were hooked. Had a great time for a couple of hundred quid!
With regards to the Sun Valley, are there any things to consider with it? Should I weather the tent first? Would you suggest applying seam sealant? Any tips would be appreciated, treat me like the inexperienced novice that I am.
We didn't weather our at all. We did, however have a practice pitch of it before going away - just to make sure everyhing was OK with it.
The seams shouldn't really need sealing on a brand new tent but you will have got a bottle of it in with the 'repair kit' they include with new tents.
Take it with you and if you do get a problem then you can run a little sealer down the seams where the problem is. Remember, though, that the tent must be DRY when you do this.
