Hello, this is my first time on here and I was wondering if any one had any advice that could steer me in the right direction in purchasing a new tent. Myself and my daughter went camping for the first time last year in a vango diablo 400 which is a great tent but massive, I have been looking at tigris 400dlx or 600 and also icarus 500, in blue I must add to match all the equipment i have already purchased ha ha (its a me thing). Thank you for any replys.

You can't go far wrong with the Icarus 500. Its very popular as a neat little tent both for a first time camper and for weekend or longer trips for a small family. I guess you have already looked at the reviews. It is going fast for a second year running. I spotted this morning that one retailer has already sold out of its current stock. With this tent you can also get an extra canopy to add for longer breaks if you need more room.
The Vango TBSII internal strapping system that you can clip in if its gets really windy to reduce pole flexing is a particularly valuable feature of Vango's fibreglass pole tents as is the sewn in ground sheet and the fly mesh on the side door. The ability to have 2 bedrooms or 1 is also a plus.
We had a diablo last year as we wanted space but it was too big and too difficult to put up. This year we've gone with the Icarus 600, just me, hubby and the dog but as I said we like the space. I reckon for just the two of you the 400 would be enough but unless you are only 5ft you can't stand up without touching the top...so the 500 would be perfect. However there are lots of others out there that are similar and everyone has a different view of what's the perfect tent. Good luck with choosing something!
have you seen the Outwell Carolina M? Outwell tents are the best quality you can buy and this one is easy to but up but with great, roomy, bright living space. Only downside is one bedroom and you can only really sleep sideways in bedroom compartment so you have to step over your sleeping partner! Go Outdoors have it at moment!

Hi, thanks for all your replys, they are very much appreciated. As I am new to camping I need all the advice and guidance you can give me, and on my tight budget I can not afford to make costly mistakes. Also could you advise me on - is it worth joining the/a caravan and camping club?
don't bother joining any of the clubs - you can find all the info you need and loads of sites with reviews from campers on here. Save your £5 (or whatever it is) and spend it on camp site fees
