I purchased the michigan l tent at the end of 2009 and have yet to use it, however when I bought it all the stockists were out of stock of the front extension. Would current users of this tent recommend that I buy the extension when its in stock ?

Yes - deff.
Good weekend tent but I would certainly not use it again without the extension on.
It is bad for rain running off and into the proch bit when it's open and on it's poles.
