we have camped for last four wet years in a vango colorado delux which has a bathtub ground sheet, which has never let the rain in but we really feel we cant cope with another cold summer in it as it gets so cold and damp once the sun goes down. Thought we might like to downsize as eldest child doesnt want to join us anymore but in researching what to buy we have been really taken with the outwell florida 6, one less pod but still a big tent and i like the pods to be apart, does any one have one what are the pros and cons, and how does the large front opening cope in a strong wind, we are yet to experience camping in the sun.

Hi Caren

We also got tired of cramped conditions, lots of rain and no SIG - so decided to upgrade to the Outwell Florida 6.  We got Go Outdoors to price match Yeomans (plus a further 10% off with their price match policy) so got it for £315.  Had been looking to buy the Montana 6 but as the Florida already comes with a canopy (its extra with the Montana) it seemed too good to turn down.

Had  a look round one in store before purchasing and thought it would work really well for us (family with 2 kids).

Haven't been camping in it yet, but  will be going in May.  Will also have a practice pitch in the backgarden when the weather gets better so we don't look complete muppets when it comes to pitching it!

Have you looked in the tent review section? - there are some reviews of the Florida 6 there.

thanks for the reply, thats an amazing price you got it for the cheapest ive found it is tauton leisure at £499, ive had a quick look on yeomans and go outdoors neither has it on the website any more as that would have clinched the decision, i shall keep an eye on those and see if they put it back on definatly before i spend more on it, also looked at the tent reviews, thank you, didnt know it was there, all very favourable, our local garden centre/tent supplier has it up we've been twice to look at it this weekend you've got a bargain they want £650.00 for it

Yeomans had it for £350 last Nov,  and thanks to some one on this site mentioning about the Go Outdoor price matching policy got another 10% off.

I had been waiting and waiting for the Montana 6 to be reduced (but it never really happened), when the Florida 6 bargain came up.

Keep checking as there may be some 2009 stock around - good luck!

I like the Florida 6 except for one thing: the sleeping arrangements are such that it is sideways to the door of the bedroom pods not feet/head to the door. This means that, should the person furthest from the door need to get up in the middle of the night he/she would have to climb over those nearer to the door.

We have the Florida 6 for 2 adulds and 2 kids (6&8) and I love it.  Really spacious and no problem camping for over a week.  We had it up in really poor weather last year but with the rear end into the wind we had no problems.

We've got the extra awning too as this meant that we could keep the kitchen stuff and a table outside without it getting wet.  On the downside it's really heavy to put up with the 2 of us.  I'm a big strong lass and I struggle to lift the pole bag!

We made the mistake of waiting too long to take advantage of the Yeomans price of £350 for the florida 6, and missed the boat!! They told us that it will be back in stock but not for that price!

We eventually bought one from Don Valley Leisure for £399. We researched for months before settling on the Florida 6, and can't wait to use it in anger.

We are a family of 3 and the sleeping arrangements are perfect for us as the bedroom openings don't intrude into the living space allowing more room for spreading out. After all the bedrooms are only used for a few hours overnight, but the living area is used all day.

We bought our Florida last summer after owning a Hartford L, we LOVE our Florida and plan to buy the front awning to give it an extra room.

We use two pole bags one for the roof poles and one for the sides, this makes it easy for us girlies to carry.

The tent works well for us even when our friends come and it's 4 adults and 2 kids, the adults have the pods and the kids have the centre wardrobe area between the pods.

We can pitch now in about 30mins, then hubby sorts out lines whilst I'm incharge of the kitchen set up, ha ha even on holiday the kitchen is never far.

I would recommend the florida and now they do a florida 5 too.
