Hi all, I'd appreciate any views on an auction I've been lucky enough (I think) to win on Ebay.  It's for a Sunncamp Shadow 800 + Carpet + Footprint.  Was purchased in 2009 and has been used a couple of times, with one small tear that has been repaired.

We've only paid £90 which seems too good to be true (the seller has excellent feedback too).  It's going to be my family's first proper attempt at camping in August and I'm hopeful the wife and kids will enjoy with a view to buying a brand new tent afterwards. So any advice/guidance anyone can offer (re ebay tents) would be greatly appreciated, e.g. I assume it'd be a good idea to try and put up sometime soon?

Regards Pete

Congratulations Pete, y

The 1 thing i like about ebay is feedback so fingers crossed with your bargain.Yes i would and i think many others would advise to pitch as soon as possible to check full condition etc.

We bought a vango vista off ebay last year, bought it for similar reasons, new to camping and working out what our families camping needs were. Were now the proud owners of a vango amazon and can't wait to road trip it this year.

Good luck and enjoy all the free equipment advice on this site,i've saved a fortune by reccomendations and learning from other peoples mistakes on here.

I can't speak from experience when it comes to a Shadow 800, but for £90, with the carpet and footprint, it looks like a great deal.

Reminds me a bit of the Gelert Horizon 6/8 (classic tunnel shape).

You definitely need to pitch it asap, to check it out - easier said than done in this bloody weather I know.

I'm no expert when it comes to eBay, but assume the longer you leave it, the harder it is to dispute a buy.

Hope all is well and you got yourself a real steal.

I bought my first tent from ebay & it was a very good buy.  Agree you should get it up asap. but it sounds like a bargain. Having a footprint & carpet will make it very comfortable & looking at the tent on internet it will be perfect for family camping.  Well done!!

Sounds a good buy if it is in good condition hence the good advice to check it out asap...my reservations being that it was bought last year, only used twice and has a tear in it? Why are they selling so quickly and you would think someone who has bought a brand new tent of that price would take better care of it.

I also bought my 1st tent off ebay, only a 4 berth to see if the wife and my daughter enjoyed it. They love it and cant wait to go again this year.
I would recommend to put it all together asap. I did in the garden the day i fetched it. Dont want to travel and find damage etc after. Happy camping

thanks for all the responses, much appreciated.

Due to put up for the first time at the weekend - I'm completely over-excited (even if the OH isn't) :)
