I was in Best Buys in Wellingborough on the weekend and they had the Outdoor Revolution Starcamper 3 for £69.99! I think this was this years model as well. Can anyone tell me if this tent is any good/ or had any experience with one? I want it for short weekends away instead of using the Orchy 600 and also for this years Isle of Wight festival. I've read the reviews which sound great but they are for older versions.
Any info on this tent would be great.

Actually it can't be this year's model as I read that they aren't producing any tents this year. A quick look at their website confirms that they only have awnings and outhouses this year.
However, the Starcamper 3 is a good tent and, if memory serves, won an award from The Guardian a couple of years back. £70 is a pretty good price.
What colour is it? If it's black and silver then I think it was made last year. The tents from the previous two years or so were light brown and off white.
Ahh....that'll explain why i can't find details on their website! I just assumed it was this years model. It is the silver and black one which i think looks a lot nicer than the brown.
It's a shame that they stopped making tents. I was very, very close to getting one of theirs when I opted for the Minny instead - though I guess that's little consolation to them!

I had an Outdoor Revolution tunnel tent from 2006 which I used for a couple of seasons until I sold it. Good strongly made tent I thought, So you should be ok.
I can recommend Outdoor Revolution - and their spares company Blue Diamond.
I have a 4.2 and although a great tent I believe it was too big for carbon poles and was a bugger to get up even in the slightest wind. Mine is now off to the local scout group!
I don't want to start an argument but our OR was grey and its 4 years old! The brown ones were definately last years. Totally agree though they haven't got a tent range this year for some reason!
I'm 95% certain that 2-tone grey with yellow trimmings was the colour about 4 years ago, which was superceeded by light brown and biege/cream which was superceeded by black and white (mercury?).
Come on. Bring it on!!

Former scout, you are correct, i have the star camper3 from two years ago cream/beige, last years was black/silver. It is a great we tent ideal for short trips festivals, i liked the or tents so much i got a scenic premium7 this year.
Hi, I think the only change when they updated the Starcamper 3 was the colour change from coffe and cream to grey.
The S3 is a neat little tent and in a fairly niche part of the market height/size/SIG wise. I had one and it was fine. My only tip would be that you need to manage the overnight ventilation by eg leaving the top of the side door slightly unzipped as the tent would have been improved by a tad more ventilation. But that's a small nit-picky quibble and certianly shouldn't deter you from buying a S3 if it suits you otherwise.

I bought my Outdoor Revolution back in 2004 (after our wee vango that we had borrowed got flooded)
It's a great tent, easy to puy up and after a right good nik waxing it has stood up to some serious weather.
We used it for overnight stops or quick breaks though now there are 3 of us will be looking for something a bit different for when it's not worth pitching the big tent.
Dissapointed they aren't doing tents this year as I would deffo consider another one
