I have the Vango Orchy 600 tent and am considering buying the tunnel extension, but at 380cm in length it seems a bit massive - about the same size at the living area of the tent. Does anyone have this extension and is it worth having? Shame they don't have something about half the size that would fit this tent. The canopies seem ok, so any advice on these would also be appreciated. We are looking for that bit of extra space/shelter, esp in bad weather for somewhere to cook and leave dirty boots.
Cheers
Lez

My sister got it last year and she says she wouldn't want to be without it. She used it on a stormy weekend where she was really glad of the shelter, and she used it for cooking in. There is a bit of a gap between the tent and the canopy but it didn't let any rain in due to the angle, however it did come off altogether with some strong gusts. I think this could be rectified with clingons. I have this on order myself for the icarus and will get clingon clips as well just in case!
Many thanks for your reply; though what are clingons? Are they like washing line pegs and do you get them from camping shops. I have this strange picture in my head of 'Klingons' from startrek holding the canopy in place in a storm
I should add that I've recently found out that the premium extension isn't really for the Vango Icarus so therefore my sisters experience of it not being a great fit would be explained. However websites selling the premium extension list the Orchy as a tent the extension IS suitable for.

we have this canopy it's fantastic, we have camped before without one and it's a godsend camping with this, we cooked in it and there's room to sit in it and watch the rain through the big clear windows. we would recommend one.
Thanks Craig & Julie (and Victoria); you've convinced me to get one - looks good on your photo. We've got a bigger car now so should have space to put it; but if it's anything like the tent we will have to get a bigger bag for it as we struggled to get our Orchy 600 tent back into the original bag.
I've gone on ahead and ordered this premium extension for my Icarus 500, as I think with the aid of the afore mentioned Clingons I'll get a sturdy enough fit and I've seen it working in practice with this tent last year. Then tent has arrived in stock (yippee) and I don't know when the extension will come in but as soon as it does I'll post some pics.
You'd mentioned before about the extension being a bit big but you have to bear in mind that it does overlap your tent a little bit, so the usable floor space is unlikely to be less than 380cm.
