Hi all, I need to replace a pole in our old Gelert lokon vario 6 so that I can sell it. The pole is 12.7 mm diameter but I cant find anywhere that sells the correct length only 850mm long and I need 600mm! Has anyone had this problem before? Can I just buy the longer one and cut it to length????  Help appreciated lol

Yep - just cut it to length yourself if you can't find one the right size.

Thats easy then, wasnt sure if it would shatter or something if I took a saw to it lol!

Easy enough to cut down to size with a junior hacksaw then rub with a bit of sandpaper on the cut end to round it off, just have to saw carefully so the fibres don't split lenthwise.

Wrapping masking tape around it and cutting through the tape will minimise any splintering

Hi
I do this now and then and the way we do it is... Cut through the pole until your about 1-2mm from cutting all the way through and then turn the pole a smidge and carry on then turn the pole again a smidge until you have cut the pole... What you dont want to do is cut straight through the pole as you will splinter the last bit. Then as said above smooth of the ends.
