Hello stumbled across this site when looking for camping outlets.
We are a family of 4, comprising 2 adults and 2 children (aged 13 &6) I've read through this forum a fair bit and have built a bit of a wish list:
8 Berth tent (bedrooms 2 x 4)
The two bedrooms must not be next to each other (DH and I would like a little privacy )
Think we need a tunnel tent as we are all tall and I would like to be able to stand up in both living and sleeping areas.
Sew-in ground sheet. I've read the pros and cons here on this site but my biggest fear of camping is the beasties so will do all in my power to keep them at bay.
We have a budget of about £200-250 for the tent.
So what do you think? I've read alot on here about the Gelert Albury/Quebec 8. These seem to be few and far between. Any others that spring to mind please.

Probably slightly cheaper than the Gelert options is Hi Gear. Hi Gear tents are made by Gelert but exclusively for Go Outdoors. The Kalahari seems to fit your bill if a little over budget. But do you REALLY need 8 berth for 4 of you? Many would say that a 6-berth would be sufficient, in which case the Zenobia is easily within your budget. Friends of mine got this as their first tent last season and it's fine. However, for both tents you would need to consider a footprint groundsheet and a porch (Kalahari porch; Zenobia porch) which means going over your budget.
Do get to see the tent you are thinking of buying. There are plenty of Go Outdoors around the country these days.
I know we are greedy wanting a 8 berth for 4 of us but the 6 berth looked a little 'squashy'
'Former Scout' I'll have a look at those you have recommended
Glad you like you user name. MIL was a scout leader, my 13 year old son has come through Scouting since the age of 6 and infact we are off to see him performing in his 3rd Gang Show tonight
I was in Blackpool Gang Show for about 5 years - when it was at the Winter Gardens, ABC and Opera House!! I believe they just perform at a local high school these days.
I got back into camping after helping out at my elder son's cub camps.

This is our first year in a local school. Up until now we have always been in the theatre http://www.floralpavilion.com/ - just too bloomin' expensive now
We purchased the Zenobia last year and love it!
There's four of us....hubby, myself, 15 yr old son & 10 yr old daughter, oh and the dog!....and we had plenty of room.
Saying that....I really want a porch!
It'll be somewhere to dump the wet gear etc....
I'd also like a kitchen/utility tent to cook in also....Maybe we could use the porch if if we get one? Depends on how open it is.
Our Zenobia is the green one from last year, so we'd need a green porch to match.
We've only had one little weekend in it so far and can't wait to get out there this year...
But yeah....a Zenobia sounds ideal for you ;)
We have a Vango Tigris 800 which seems to tick all your boxes. The kids have a bedroom each at one end of the tent, then the oh & I have the large room at the other end (actually 2 rooms with a dividing curtain but we dont put the curtain up), It is very simular to the khyam Ontario 8 mentioned above. We got out tent for a good deal last year with carpet and footprint groundhseet included. It is very big in the "living" area, and because all the bedrooms are big there is lots of room for storage in them to. We also have the tunnel extension for it, which is basically a large porch for it, which we use for weeks away, just for weekends we dont bother. We used to have a Outwell Hartford XL but found it took up a large pitch space due to layout on tent, but the Tigris is better shaped.
If you want any more info please ask.
