I'm guessing you've got the 2009 model?  Kampa have now updated the instructions:

http://www.kampa.co.uk/instructions/Tent_Instructions/2010_Filey_6_Instructions.pdf

For some reason they now suggest pegging the front and walking back rather than pegging the back first.  I'm intending (when I try it!) to peg the back first (to line up with the footprint).

There are a couple of techniques mentioned on the Filey 6 review page:

http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/tents/p/Kampa-Filey-6/1016

I'll let you know how I get on!

Tent finally pitched today, in very cramped conditions!  Up in around an hour (me + wife), including time to stop and consider the best approach to each stage and adding some eyelets to the footprint groundsheet.

After threading all the poles through we lifted them all up and pegged the rear corner guys temporarily and walked it all forward to the peg the porch guy.  Relatively still day so I'm not sure what it would be like to this in a breeze!  More experimentation required, especially with getting it lined up on the footprint...

View from a bedroom

View from the rear!

Inside

Manufacturing fault   There's a ring missing for one of the bedroom toggles and the one that is there is in the wrong place, half way between the two toggles on the pod.  Not the end of the world...

Look forward to putting it up for real and pegging it out properly!

Given the reviews of the efficiency of Kampa to deal with problems, I am sure that they would be able to address the toggle issue for you quickly. Going on what has been said previously - they pick-up and return the tent in just a few days with any problems sorted.

Just contact them via their website contact details - www.kampa.co.uk

Hi Helen,

I sent them an email last night, mainly to let them know there was a problem that wasnt picked up during their quality check process.  They didn't offer to fix it, though I did say it isn't the end of the world...

We're going away in the tent for the late May BH so we'll see how much of a problem it is - I suspect we can attach the two toggles to the single D ring with a piece of string and forget about it!

Cheers,

Peter

Just bear in mind that the 2010 version has a 4+2 arrangement for the bedrooms, rather than the 3+3 show in the photo - We've got a 2009 one...

That's a shame! Not what I'd expect from the company. If it does end up bothering you, I'd press for it to be done.

Enjoy your trip and having the chance to pitch it properly. I know the challenge. We landscaped our garden when we got married and now we can't quite pitch our Vango Columbia 600. The Kampa Bude 4 fits a treat though for those garden sleepovers!

Happy camping!

Helen

Hi we have one of these

we have put it up once at the end of last season when we bought it new! (as you do)

one tip un zip the doors and window vents a bit !! it allows air in as you lift the tent , this does help.

we put all the poles in and then pegged the back lines in then lifted the tent and then opened it up section by section

I hope this makes sence  ( been a long day!)

good luck it gets better with practice our previous tent was simular  and we could be from boot, to cup of tea and beds made in an hour  !! :)

remember to rezip the doors and windows before you peg it all properly.

If you find the instructions confusing have a google for the you tube videos of similar design Outwell tents - Sun Valley 6, Bear Lake 6. Might help a bit

I would go with temp pegging the back after you have threaded all the poles then walking the tent forward - temp putting in the guys at the front just to hold it in place whilst you start to peg out properly (from the back).
When we pitched the SV8 we always found it useful to have an extra pair of hands just to hold the porch poles (our 12 yr old was good at that once we got her out of the car!!)
