Can anyone help me with some info on the Khyam branded tents.
I've been looking on-line at the Harewood and think that this would suit my requirements really well ie large tent that can be errected easily single handedly. I've previously owned a Khyam Ridgi-Pod so have some experience of the QE system
I tried to view one today at a local dealer who has a good display of tents and used to stock Khyam. He told me that Khyam have gone into liquidation (I knew that) and that the owner has now set up on his own and is selling the Khyam brand on-line. He told me that since then the quality has suffered with the fabric quality having dropped from 4000 to 2000 hydrostatic head. He also told me I would notice a definate drop in quality and because of this dealers in the UK will no longer stock the Khyam brand, therefore I would never get to see one on display in the UK.
I'm inclined to question that as there seem to be plenty of UK dealers still selling them on-line, many of them large reputable companies. Also I thought the hydrostatic head thing changed a few years ago from 4000 to 2000,
I know there are lots of Khyam enthusiasts out there and wondered if anyone can offer any more infomation/advice on this. Maybe I am cynical to think that the salesman could just have been giving me a load of waffle in an attempt to convince me to buy one of his non-Khyam branded tents. (I didn't see anything there I really liked that was suitable anyhow).
It's the Harewood, in particular that interests me and I would also think of adding a Classic Annexe for more living space when needed.
Also anyone know of any dealers in Dorset, Hampshire, Wiltshire who have one on display that I could go and view as I'd really like to see one in the flesh before I buy. The fact they went into liquidation alone does not deter me. It's what I was told re the quality having since suffered that is my concern & like I said, my memory is telling me that the hydrostatic rating changed some time ago - but I could be wrong on this.
Thanks for reading.
