We have an Outwell Vermont Large, last year we found that on wet days pools of water were caused in the front living area when the door was opened, as it slopes. This year we would like to get a canopy to shelter the doorway but not sure if we can get one cheaply to fit the large tent? Would the Coleman awning fit a large tunnel tent, such as the Vermont L?

Hi,
Did you mean this one.

Argos

I would have thought it would fit.It has got adjustable straps on it which you could clip to the Vermonts steel poles

Hi
I do not see why any of the Montana 6 front canopies wouldnt fit, ok the front pole on the Vermont slopes back a bit but if your ok with it not being 100% you should be ok. All the other sizes ie the width etc are the same.

Hi Gary I did also think of that but as OP said they wanted something cheap I didn't mention them.

Hi Sue
Yes I missed the "Cheap" bit of the OP. They may pick up the Montana 6 front canopy on ebay or even the front extension now that the enclosed front awning is on the market!

Hi

You could always get the side extension and use that entrance on rainy days, when i was looking for an extension for my tent i came across this one on here, not a bad price i thought considering they go for more on ebay. So i suppose if you cant get a canopy for the front this would be better than nothing.

Hi - I don't know if this is too late, but I bought a Gelert Horizon side porch (now HiGear Kalahari 8) in green because it cost less than £80 and had a door. This is a really good fit on our Outwell Montana 12,much better than our universal side canopy which always seemed a bit baggy and acted like a sail in high winds. We use it as our kitchen and wet room with a clothes airer to dump wet coats - it feels safer than cooking in the main tent. It's a shame they brought out the Outwell Vermont side awming with a door afterwards, but we'd waited 4 years for something to make our Monty 12 the perfect large family tent and at the end of the day, £230+ for an awning is appalling - we only paid £400 for the tent in the first place and it has served us well. So, the fact that our porch is a slightly darker shade of green is neither here nor there - the front is flat rather than steeply sloping like the vermont canopy, which means rain does not run straight off into the porch when you open it. For anyone searching for a more cost effective (and smaller) porch for their Outwell tunnel tent I recommend you look at the Gelert Horizon/HiGear Kalahari porch - just not sure if they still make a green version. If I can find a photo I'll upload it for info. I might even post this as a new thread as I think a lot of tunnel tenters are looking for a porch with a door to cook and dry out in.

Note I've put a photo of this combo in my gallery - not sexy but perfectly practical.
