Hi,

I bought an Outwell Sun Valley 6 last Autumn and I finally got around to test-pitching it in the garden yesterday.

Initially it was a bit of a struggle - as I was on my own, and I raised the tent front-back (I've read on various sites that it's easier to raise it back to front).

Now the tent is up I have noticed that one-side (at the bottom where the poles attach) is fixed, and the other side is adjustable. The problem is that on the adjustable side the edge of the tent is almost four inches from the ground - whereas the fixed side is almost flush to the ground.

The knock-on effect of this is that the inner ground sheet doesn't sit properly - and nor does one side of the bedroom compartments. And also the front door zip is too tight to close fully.

I've tried re-positioning the poles, adjusting the straps etc but nothin has made a significiant difference.

Can anybody suggest what I might have done wrong - or how I can rectify the problem?

Thank you,

Mike

Hi, we have a 2007 SV6 and sometimes struggle to get it to sit flat to the ground. It sounds like you have tried everything I was going to suggest.
Sometimes if the pitch is uneven it can make parts of the tent be a little off the ground.
Make sure your straps are slackened off fully before you bend the poles into the ring and pins and check to make sure your poles are equal when they are through the canvas sleeves. We put bits of tape on,then when we pitch again we know exactly where they should be.
Re your tight door zip...try bringing in the front poles slightly and hen tightening the strap.
You will see by this photo that on this occasion the tent is nice a nd snug to the ground, but those pitches were very flat and level.
