I think hubby and I have decided on the Vango Icarus 500 (or maybe the 600, but I think the 500...), and was wondering if anyone has seen any good deals/best prices for this tent? I haven't the first idea where to start looking for the best tent prices!

I got mine in my local scout shop for £124. It might be worth giving your nearest scout shop a ring. Otherwise they're going for about £133 cheapest online plus P&P

good for you the icarus is lovely, depends how soon you want/need it, i grabbed mine from GO, but you can save a tener plus shopping around and waiting, dont forget the footprint, and get a canopy if you can really makes the tent you can use last years large suncanopy as i do and get it for about 25 quid but it probably wont match:)

Dcope - last years canopy fits does it? What about the one with the door? Is it just called a large sun canopy?

The one with the door is called the premium extension.

I have it ordered but the guy at the shop says it doesn't fit the icarus 500!  My sister got the premium extension with the same tent last year and it fits fine (although the bit that fits over the top blew off once in very stormy conditions but I think that would have happened any canopy).

So I've ordered it anyway although haven't picked it up yet. When I get it up and sorted I'll post some pics.

The premium extension is sold on one website as a universal extension for vango tents, but on another one there is a list of compatible tents which includes the artemis and the orchy, but not the Icarus.

this is the 2009 large sun 480

as you can see no door but fitted fine addd a wind bbreak and should be ok, depends how much you wanna spend the premium one with the door seems expensive, but i would get one if i could. and then do (large sun/premium/icarus/standard suncanopy on side) well thats my plan anyways.

Well I finally picked up our Icarus this morning from Go Outdoors. They price match then knock off 10%, so I finally got it for £121.50! So I spent the saving I made on the footprint for £19.99. I am now a happy camper! Can't wait to put it up in the garden this weekend in prep for next weekend.

Thanks very much for this post.
You've just saved me a lot of money and got me a new tent.

Except they won't price match at the moment because they have a '20% off tents' weekend, which brings the price down to the same as Yeomans, and the tills won't let them put through two discounts at the same time.
It's £139.99 - 20%, so £111.99.
A very good price still.

If you buy online from BCH camping (small independent with 3 stores in Bath, Trowbridge and Chippenham) as a first time online purchaser you can get an extra 20% off.

The Icarus £500 is currently £139 less the 20% = £111

The Icarus 600 is £179 less the 20% = £143
