We have been looking recently at the Kampa tents and have been quite impressed with what you get for your money. We are currently trying to decide between a Filey 6 or a Croyde 6.
We have 5 & 3 year old boys and a baby due any day(!) so ideally we would like one large bedroom that can accommodate the 5 of us (1 double airbed and 3 singles/cot), which the Croyde 6 would give us. However I really like the quality of the Filey 6, but the bedroom layout for the 2010 model is a 4+2. On the diagram it looks like it is a zip between the two bedrooms but in fact when we looked in one today they are 2 separate pods. The 4 man pod also has a zip in the middle to create 2 separate rooms, so in theory it can be 3 bedroomed (or 4 if you buy the additional 2 berth inner tent). So there is no scope on the 2010 model for us to all sleep together. My two sons would have to sleep together in the smaller bedroom.
I've looked at the 2009 Filey model (which still seem to be available) and they have a 3+3 bedroom layout with a zip between the two rooms, which would be better. However the zip seems to encroach into the bedroom a bit (unlike on the Croyde which is just a flap between the bedrooms), so I'm wondering if we would be able to fit everything in this bedroom space even unzipped? Also the 2009 models don't have the Sleeptite system, the possibility of an extra two berth inner tent and I can't tell if they have the canopy pole set for the side door (perhaps someone could enlighten me?).
The Croyde fits our requirements in terms of bedroom layout but when we went in it today (quite sunny) it was extremely hot inside. Didn't look as much scope to ventilate the tent with none of the windows opening, just the side doors and the front doesn't roll back like on the Filey. The general quality didn't seem quite as good, however at £299 it's pretty good value for money!
Anyway just wondered if anyone whose got one of these tents would be kind enough to give me some advice? BTW the Croyde is apparently the newer version of the Lulworth 6.
Thanks!
Claire.
