Still looking to buy our first family tent. It's a big investment so we want to do it right.
We wondered if the steel poles of the Vango Maritsa 700 will make the tent hard to put up as it will be so heavy? We don't want to tire ourselves out putting it up before we've even started!
What is your experience?
Thanks
Amanda

As has been said on the other thread , you are not going to be carrying them about much except for lifting in and out the car , so if you are in reasonable health , go for it .
its definitely easier with 2 people but I have put up an outwell montana single handed a couple of years ago, and I'm an average size woman, not particularly fit, but no mmajor health problems . Don't think i'd manage it now , I'm 45 and starting to feel my age with creaky joints and a bad back lol.
Still managed to put up the caravan awning up last week with my sis who's 40 , and they are steel poles too.

Steel poles aren't too bad as I found out tonight with my tent... probably could do it by myself but would always have a helping hand to lighten the load :)
We have the Maritsa 700 - you need 2 people to put the tent up.The poles are heavy but my wife manages easily (we're in our 40's) - Technique in getting it up is more important !!!
Thanks for the brilliant replies. I am sorry it was a double post I did not know how to remove it from one to leave it on the right one.
I am 35, hubby 2 years older and both in good health and fit. I think the only thing that might get in the way is our ability to stay civil to each other throughout the process whilst our 3 young kids run about between us!
Happy camping ahead!

Ours has steel poles and me and my 13 yr old son can manage this on our own no problem. The worst bit is when they are all in the bag sooo heavy, but no probs with erecting them.

Many steel pole tents can be errected one pole at a time - see Yeoman outdoors video of pitching the Montana 6 on YouTube. This makes it much easier to lift. A single person can effectively pitch a steel pole tent this way,
We pitch our 4 pole Columbia 600 the Vango way where you lift all poles in one go. It is heavy but certainly manageable with two of us.
One tip peg all the rear pegs when you lift all the poles and walk them forward, as only pegging the two corners tends to result in the pull of walking the tent forward loosening the pegs and the ground around. With all of them pegged the back of the tent stays solid making the job far easier.
