Hi Everyone,
I'm a newbie and was wondering if anyone had any advice on packing up a Gelert Horizon 8? Bought this at the weekend after arriving and finding our 4 man tent was too small. Love the new tent and I pitched it myself whilst hubby looked after the kids. But found it really, really difficult to pack away again. Had numerous arguments with hubby about it! Managed to get it in the bag eventually but could do without the stress next time! Any advice greatly appreciated.

Hi, glad you like this tent, we love ours  We bought our Horizon 8 last year and did have a little trouble at first with the packing up.

The only advice I can give is that we now find the best thing is to fold the tent in length ways and then measure the bag width against the end before you start folding up, thus ensuring you can fit it in width ways. From the on its just a matter of folding up very tightly so as to zip up the bag (I hope this makes some sense!!!!). I assume you are packing the poles separatley as they take up a lot of space.

To be honest I think its more about practice makes perfect  Good luck for next time though

We have the 6, and I agree the only way is to fold it into a sausage and fold ends to middle squeezing the air out till it fits. It gets better with practice!

Unzip the front door as you let it down, and poll up from the back to the front so the air can escape, keep it nice and tight as your roll it up.

Thank you everyone, will try this next time! My next mission is to get the porch on, have seen some tips on here that I shall use. It'll certainly make life easier and hopefully save the arguments, although my friend did say that it's absolutely'normal' to argue whilst pitching and packing!
Thanks again Amanda
