Why not look at the Vango Columbia 600 - similar design to the Montana but has 2/3 bedrooms, full front opening and although being discontinued this year there are still a few around at £275 (RRP £450 last year). The footprint and carpet of the Sungari 600DLX will fit the Columbia and you can use the Sungari canopy if you get a sage coloured one.
My vote is for the monty its an incredibly strong tent due to the steel poles but on top of that the HH is 5000 which is higher than almost anything on the market it has stacks of space whith a good range of accsesories to make it larger/more comfortable as you might have guessed i have a monty! and i wouldn't be without it

I completely agree with sxis. (Guess what? I'm yet another Monty owner!) Surely the popularity of the Monty 6 speaks for itself, great quality tent, very strong & spacious. It's simple to pitch & is a fantastic space for the family to live in.
Go on, you kow it makes sense!!!

There a 3 bed pods in the Amazon which are stuck that way , no zips to make bigger pods, also only fit a standard size air bed your not going to get one of the fancy big one in a pod.The monty has two big pods with a zip to make one big one.Something to consider.
thanks speedcamp for your advice had a wee look at the columbia and i know its petty but not keen on the sage colour, i am leaning towards the monty only cos i like the extension possibilty and luminous ropes (handy as the eyesight is getting poor esp with a few drams) but the scotsman in me is worried about price all these xtras are gonna cost!

Thank you all for your advice but has typical I went for neither! Decided to go for the Vango Monte Verde 700, it has the same HH 5000, steel pole and with three teenagers an extra pod for the naughty one. By the time I bought all the extras the Monty was just too expensive at this time (going in 6 weeks) and MV has a built in awning, camping world are selling them for £510 which includes footprint and carpet its seems like a good deal, can't wait for it to arrive and have a test run in the garden, I just hope it can withstand our highland weather I,ve already lost a prize tent last year
