Although we don't use the pegs that came with our large tent, prefering rock pegs which we've used for our tents for years - the instructions included by Vango were to use the V pegs in the plastic D loops and pin pegs in the rings at the bottom of the poles, in elastic loops and for the guyropes. I guess other tent manufacturers may advise differently, but you may be able to work out what your own manufacturer intended by counting the number of each peg type and the different types of pegging points.
