After reading about NOT cooking in your tent I stupidly cooked in mine and the frying pan went up in flames.

I soon put fire out but not before the insect mesh covering window had melted. Fortunately this was the only damage done and I need to replace the black fine mesh on my Vango Killington 400. I had rolled down the outside windcover thankgoodness just before cooking. I have already emailed Vango but does anyone know where I can buy the mesh from ?

Needless to say I won't be cooking in tent again !!

The no-see-um mesh which tent manufacturers use is difficult to come by. I've only found one stockist in England. However, I ordered mine from here as their price plus the shipping cost from the States works out cheaper than buying from the supplier in England

I've ordered from Quest Outfitters quite a few times, and their service is brilliant. Very quick despatch, and a very personal service.

Thanks for your replies.

Will try the Lidil mesh first then Outdoor Fabrics. Need to find a way of attaching the mesh !!

Would glue work ??

if you do glue it in watch what type of glue you use as you dont want to damage the tent fabric, try somthing like clear bostick or uhu glue

but have a look what i suggested in your other thread first

I think you may find the Lidl mesh is a little lightweight for a permanent fix. I've used it at home on windows and find I have to renew it each year.

The lidil mesh is quite light weight but will have to do for now. Thanks Val for your advice. Dh will follow it or else !!

We are off to Loch Ness in June so will probably have to replace the mesh after this trip due to big insects people keep telling me about.
