Hello Everyone

Firstly I hope we are posting this in the right section. Apologies if not.

What we were hoping for was for someone to provide us with more detailed instructions for pitching our Zenobia 6 than those that actually came with the tent. We have never camped before and this is our first tent. On our test run we managed to get all the poles in place but probably not in the correct order but then got a bit stuck with all the guy lines. Is there a specific order to do things and which pegs go where.

Sorry if this is an obvious question.

Thanks

Hi and welcome .
I start at the back end with the first pole.
I dont peg the corners down fisrt though, as I find you have more flexibilty to get the pins inthe poles with it not pegged down.

put pins in pole, with it laying as flat to the ground as poss , is easier than trying to do it with the pole up in the air, as you are not lifting the canvas as well.

lay this first arch down , then do each pole the same, lying on them on top of the first.

Make sure the door is open to let air in before raising the tent, the air will help to lift it up easier.
peg down the corners at one end.

lift all poles up and walk the whole lot out, stretching it as you go.

loosely guy out the guylines at this end.
#
tent should now be standing.

peg down the corners this end. closing the doors first.

adjust guyline position if neccesary.

guy out the other end.

go inside and check the groundsheet is lying flat, move poles or corners to stretch it all flat.

peg through rings to hold poles in position.
peg the side guylines straight out in line with the poles .

the end poles guylines peg these slightly angled towards the back and front ones slightly towards front.

if you have steel pegs these are for the pegging down loops at the base of the tent, and through the rings at bottom of poles.

Plastic ones are for the guylines.

pegs should be angled at 45degrees pointing in towards tent, not straight down.

this is how the guyline slider should be on a single guyline. note the loop at the bottom of the slider , this enables the slider to move up and down for adjustment.

this is a double guyline, its attached at the top and bottom of the tent, the slider can be on the top or the bottom, but still should be able to be adjusted easily.
the guylines can sag or shrink according to the weather so check they are tight enough each day , morning and evening , and after rain.

Thanks for the advice - very helpful :)  We have six ?V pegs and about thirty odd steel ones. I'm sure the next time we put it up it will be easier plus our garden only just fits it in.

Bring on our first actual trip!

The v pegs may be for the corner straps?
the steel pegs are not the best pegs in the world, okay for the bottom of the tent, but they do tend to bend when they hit a stone under the soil. The ones that come standard with tents are not the best quality either, you can get heavier stronger ones from any camping shop

I would get some plastic pegs for the guylines, they hold better , Or better still, Delta pegs , do a search for these in equipment section, they are the best i've tried for guylines.

You may also need rock pegs for hard stony ground though.
