Hi All. after a huge amount of deliberation, eventually purchased a sahara 6 from gooutdoors for £199. I am extremely pleased with the purchase. After the first pitch today, most things are obvious although the instructions are vague at best! I have a couple of small queries that i would be very grateful if anyone could point me in the right direction. There is a ring and pin system at the base of each pole with 1 pin for 1 pole 2 for 2 and 3 for 3. Are the pins supposed to fit in to the pole some way? Do the poles fit inside the ring or the webbing loop attached to the ring? Also, i assume that the guy lines are supposed to follow the line of the pole. Is this correct? I remember something from way back yonder that you're not supposed to cross the guys? With this it seems impossible. I'd like to thank you all for previous posts as this site was my foremost authority when researching my purchase.

The pins go into the ends of the poles.
This holds them together at the right tension.

The ring and strap are just for pegging down to keep the poles in place .The poles dont go inside the ring or the strap.

make sure the strap isnt twisted, have the strap as loose as it will go before you put the pins in the poles , then adjust it afterwards if neccesary,

get the ring lying flat or it makes it harder to get the pins in the poles.it can get twisted up.

don't cross the poles over each other where there are 2 or 3 pins. if they are twisting over each other , they're not on the right pin for the pole.

Eg middle pole goes on middle pin with ring lying flat.

Some tents with pods have multiple guylines coming off, towards the same pegging point, peg them seperately, dont put 2 or 3 guylines on one peg.I see this happening a lot and think if the peg comes out 3 lines are let loose at once .

Its not a good idea to have the guylines crossing each other as they will cause friction in winds if they are touching each other which might cause fraying.

Thanks for that. Are the pins supposed to be quite a loose fit in the base of the poles? I kind of thought that was the case, but i was thrown that they werent a tight or tighter fit in the pole base.

Hiya,

We have also recently bought the sahara 6, but have only pitched it in the garden as a trial so not used it properly yet. In answer to your question, our pins are awkward to get into the poles but are looseish once in if that makes sense? I stupidly put all 3 pins into one pole when first putting it up as didnt realise at the time they were meant for the other poles! (You can tell i'm a novice!).

These reviews here should help with some pointers on putting the tent up. Cant wait to use ours properly!

yes if you mean the pins are a lot thinner than the ends of the poles ? But they are all like this , they will stay in .
