We are looking to buy are first tent as a family. My hubby has done a lot of camping, I haven't. We are a family of 5 (3 young children - eldest is 6). One dog.
We need lots of space for 'stuff' / very lively children. We have looked at the Outwell Hartford XL and the Sprayway Canyon 8 +2. We much prefer the layout of the Sprayway. But we don't know what the best make is, can't find very many reviews of the Sprayway and it is expensive. Are there any other makes/models that we should consider?
Your opinions and advise would be really greatfully received!! We just seem to be going round in circles!
Thanks lots in advance
Don't forget to leave a review of all tents you've used, for a chance to win fantastic prizes
Having just been to see the Karsten tent display at Cheshire, I would say they are the best tents that money can buy at the moment, failing that look at "PolyCotton" tents or even Cabanons "All Season Polyester", personally I would only consider a "Polyester Tent" for backpacking duties, although it would have to weigh in at under 3Kg max, downside of a good family type "Cotton" tent is the pack size, which almost dictates you will need a trailer of some kind. hope that helps.
we've just bought our first tent, we have gone for a Royal Cuban 6, we are 2 + 2 kids and this has 3 bedrooms and a massive indoor space. Decided this would be good for days when need to stay indoors as won't be cramped. It is also has extra bit on side for storage, loo or anything really. So many tents to choose from it was a difficult decision, but so far i'm impressed with the quality of the royal tent.
Expensive -£600 for tent and footprint and carpet, but we recently bought a monte verde 900 (7 +2) can buy 700 version, bit smaller. The reason i suggest it as it has a seperate area that you can zip off from inside and out, this creating a huge storage or kitchen area ,( I used it as a kitchen with table and chairs) , that the young kids cant access, you dont feel cut off because there is a huge window (with blind) and a huge doorway either fully closed or with netting. The front double doors open independently or you can put it up as a canopy. Brilliant layout for a tent with a young family I think.
Thank you all for your replies! We shall have a look at the suggestions you have made and hopefully decide very soon! Just to choose the campsite then......
