on using my bell tent for the first time i realised that one of the rubber loops that you peg down to shape the bottom (cotton sides not PVC groundsheet) of the tent is missing and when it rained there was a patch of the tent that wasn't waterproofed. the company have offered to send me a new loop to sew on myself and some waterproofing product and discount the tent. Or i could return it they would exchange it for a new one.
Is it an easy enough job to sew on the loop or am i better off exchanging it?
also where we were pitched in north norfolk, it was quite windy, is it normal for wind to go through the fabric (even the inner tent was billowing)? is this because it is one of the lower weight cottons (285g/m2)? this is my first cotton tent, and first time i have camped in windy weather, so don't know what to expect!

go for the exchange every time, i would defo do that if they can guarantee it getting back to you by your hols in july. as for the wind was the bottom all pegged out correctly. good luck
Are you sure the wind was blowing through the canvas, we were in north norfolk last week when they had the storms and although our canvas was tight there was still a little movement which caused the bedroom pods to sway a little. no sign of a draught though.
as for the loop missing and the tent not properly waterproof, send it back for replacement, if you accept their offer of a discount and supplying you with the loop to sew on yourself then this could cause you problems later on if you find another fault.
not sure if it was the wind blowing through the canvas, maybe it was the movement of the sides of the tent causing the bedroom pods to sway. the bottom wasn't pegged out correctly as one of the loops was missing, but it has a zig so no wind would have got in under the groundsheet.
i am still undecided about repairing it or not as the discount they offered is good, but i am worried about anything else being wrong later on.

i'me definately going for an exchange as the discount for me to repair the tent went from 40% down to £30, which i don't think is really worth the hassle!
for anyone else who has a problem with their bell tents, take a photo whilst you have it pitched. i was asked after i had come home from my trip to take photos of the faults, which isn't easy in the house, especially folding it to get it back in the bag. the company wouldn't exchange the tent without photos as they send it from me direct to the manufacturer, which is a bit of a pain!
