hi jonny590,  I'm no expert but in my past four years camping, I've found it much better with a carpet whatever tent you have.

The foot print helps a lot when you pitch it especially if its raining.
I second the carpet, makes a huge difference.We are even putting pinic blankets down in the pods next time as you notice when stepping off the carpet into a pod.

Hi. We've got the maritsa 700 and would definitely recommend the footprint and carpet. We camped in heavy rain last week and the footprint meant the underneath of the groundsheet stayed clean and dry. The carpet just adds a touch of comfort. Feels much nicer underfoot. If you were only buying one of the 2 I'd say get the footprint. So much easier to clean this than the SIG.
