Good evening everyone. Once again can I please ask for your wealth of experience and knowledge. I've been looking at a weekend tent for the past week and think I've decided on a Carolina S. However, I'd like a front canopy. I know that there isn't one made for the tent, but I think I read somewhere here that someone has used a Michigan front extension with a Carolina M.
I wondered whether the same extension could be used with the Carolina S and if so, how it attaches to the main tent.
Once again, many thanks
Ian

The age of this thread doesn't look hopeful, but I wonder of anyone has managed to do this?
The Carolina S is my first 'grown-up tent' after several back packing tents. Generally I was very pleased with it last summer, it has plenty of room for two adults who no longer fancy grovelling on the floor. The comfort in the tent if the weather is poor when out for more than a weekend was a major consideration given that it was to be my girlfriend's introduction to the joys of camping over hotel rooms.
The lack of an extension is the only failing. In the rain it means that water can get in when the door is unzipped and it is harder to keep the front part of the tent dry. I guess something could be rigged up from an outdoor fabric supplier, but my craft skills are extremely limited.
Vince, I had uploaded a pic of the tarp I used. At first I had it square onto the front with a pole in each corner however (obvious now), the water gathers in the middle of it. If you look at the pics I uploaded you will see the wife ( blue jacket / white hat at night) sitting under the revised configuration with three poles accross the front. With it like this the water runs off down each side of the tent. The rear centre guy rope is pegged out the back of the tent and the two side / rear ropes are pegged at the side/ rear of the tent. You have to adjust it so that about a foot of tarp is overlapping the front edge of the tent. I have uploaded another pic albeit in the square configuration however you can see how it sits at the front edge of the tent. Hope this helps
