Hi... I'm really making use of this site today! Sorry to be a pain.

So I have decided I really like Coleman tents.  Most of the new ones have SIG, but I have just come across this:

Groundsheet: PE, welded, fully integrated

yet in another description from a retailer it is described as this:

Integrated bathtub-style groundsheet

Are they one and the same?  I have seen some at display that have the separate GS, kind of folded up all around the living area and secured with velcro... please tell me it's not that!

Thanks x

Its a sewn in ground sheet(sig)but its suggesting that its more waterproof than average ie welded waterproof seams to make it like a 'bath tub'. Its not a separate groundsheet.

Have seen this description and thought a bit curious. The bath tub is a separate GS the attaches to the main tent in a way that a wall is formed about 4 inches high , hence the term bathtub . If fitted properly , no problems -has the advantage of being a replaceable item if a problem should occur , and if camping in warmer conditions , the sides can be placed down to allow air movement . Probably will make more of a comeback as they are probably a lower manufacturing cost .

Be seeing you!!

It was the manufacturer that said welded, not the other seller.  Having looked at the manufacturers website in more detail I think it is the welded type. I agree numbersix, I did think bathtub was as you described, think maybe the retailer has it wrong x

I think it's the same as on my vango juno. The heavy duty, waterproof groundsheet continues up the side walls of the tent for about 10cms before the 'flysheet' material starts. It is just more leak proof in boggy ground I think. Personally, I really like it, there is something more secure about it.

I have a similar thing in the porch of my Omega 350, that one is removable and sort of clips on to form a groundsheet with vertical sides.

I would imagine that integrated would mean it is sewn in.

we've just bought a coleman tent ourselves, the groundsheets in the bedrooms are sig, the living area has the bathtub groundsheet. it is separate and does attach using some loops and velcro. fairly secure though, and i quite like it as gives the option of removing it and having the grass in the living area should we wish to do so. also, can be easliy replaced if need be.
