This is my first post but I could do with some advice. We've decided on the Minnesota 4 tent but I wondered if anyone knows the difference if any, between the 2009 and 2010 model?? Some places are still selling the 09 model.
Any help would be great thanks!

Hi
If anyone is looking at the Minny 4 why not take a look at the Outwell Wyoming 4 tent... Promoted for the " National family week" and only made in small numbers but at a much lower price than the Minny 4 and 99% the same.
I hope this helps.

I was at a tent show at the weekend and saw both minny 4 and wyoming 4 and they both looked identical. The wyoming 4 had a bit at the back for kids to kick balls into (which I dont think is a good idea). Othere than that they looked the same appart from the price.

Don't think there are any changes but I can say I would recommend the Minnesota 4. We have had our for 3 years now and it has been used in some very bad weather all times of the year and has never let us down. The only bad point as other owners will note is the side door canopy puts a strain on the zips which can sometimes part. We dont use the side door and have modified the pole so there is not so much stress on the door zip. Am just looking to replace our minni as it has just start to leak on some of the seams despite repeated seam sealer and reproofing. Anyway don't think you will be dissapointed with it if you purchase one. We were extremely pleased when we did 2 weeks tour of the Western Isles in Scotland in extreme bad weather, some other tents did not stand up to the conditions, good old Minni never let us down. ~ Happy camping
Wow thanks for that! We're planning a pretty similar Scotland trip in the summer so i'm glad it stands up well.
We saw the Wyoming on Sunday at Go Outdoors, it doesn't actually have the side canopy, which was one of the things we liked (although maybe not after reading your review!) It has 2 side doors too compared to the Minnesota's one. Other than that I think its the same, with the addition of the silly games wall!
Yup, the side canopy is one of the things we like.
We have an older style Minnie 4, which does have aproblem with the tansion put on the side door by the side canopy pole - though with some judicious tension relief with some cord we can still use the door ok (there are various threads on thius). However, the newer versions have a different one and it seems much better. Going by the ones on our friends Virginia anyway.
We don't bother with it as the main door, but when it's raining the canopy is very useful as it stops a lot of the rain coming in the sloping door. We use it as a weekender, and don't always bother with outting up a tarp or larger canopy on the front, so as with this weekedn when it rained on the \sunday morning it was very useful

We have a 2008 Minny 4, don't use side door because of the tension on zip and also now have extension. I think looking at the 2010 model the pole on side door looks longer so not as much tension. Not had good look at new model but we did notice the difference in size compared to ours.
The 2010 has been changed very slightly - the side "eyebrow" porch pole is more like the side porch poles you get on the Vango tents with fixed elbow bends in it. But, to be honest, on the display tent I saw it didn't make all that much difference as there was still tension on the zip, fabric and stitching. The problem is with the length of webbed strapping that holds the black ferules in place. It seems so obvious I don't know why Outwell haven't sussed it. If they shortened the strapping it would allow the steel poles to take the strain which they are well capable of doing!!
As I've mentioned in my own review and several posts, I use plastic cable ties to fasten the ferules to the steel poles and this works very well. But since we got the extension we rarely use the side door.
