I'm having some difficulty finding a tent. There are so many to choose from and a variety of 'types'. I'm an ameteur camper and have only ever had a small 2 man but during our first time camping together my girlfriend started moaning for more space so I've figured to keep her on side it's time to buy a new one!

I would like 2 double pods in case we have friends come with us but detachable if they don't for a bit of extra space. Preferably the pods would be opposite ends of the tent, keep the distance and more usable living space if one pod is detached.

The living space would have enough space to stand up (I'm 6'2). I've heard camp sites charge quite a lot more money for big tents so although we'd like space it shouldn't be too big.

I really don't want to get wet or run around pegging the thing down again when it's windy. I've read the forums and Outwell seems to be a good brand but I can't see one they make that fits the bill.

Last but not least it'd be nice if it was easy to put up. I'm reasonably flexible on price £200-300 and am keen to buy second hand if it means getting the right tent for my budget.

Any advice would be much appreciated :)

The outwell michigan L sounds like it might fit the bill. but slightly over budget at £319 herealso has a useful side porch

the nevada L also has a detachable bedroom at the opposite end of the tent, but no side canopy , but you can buy one seperately to fit it.

Personally I 'd buy one with a good sized bedroom, a 3 or 4 berth room for the 2 of you will give enough room for clothes storage as well , so frees up the living space for table and chairs.

The Kampa range is good and the Kampa Daymer 6 may suit your needs - although again slightly over budget.

Thanks very much. Both look ideal :) Any chance you know the difference between the 2009 and 2010 models of the michigan - people seem to mention it if its the 2009 model for sale

As a newie to camping it took us a while to decide upon which tent to buy but we eventually went for a Outwell Hartford L and it is a great tent, which I would fully reccomend it. With 2 doubles points and a central room in between, you can remove the bedroom pods if needed to give more space. Its really easy to put up and the seperate footprint makes it really helps and it has a very good head height. Happy camping!!!

Sorry I've no idea if there were any changes to the 2010 model, but if you mean people selling secondhand, then its because there probably wouldnt be any 2010 ones being sold secondhand yet, this early on in the season.
