Lots of people are saying they have problems with leaks with the Maritsa. Who has one that is OK? I have one we are using this weekend but it doesn't look like there will be rain where we are going and it is too big to put up in our garden to do a hose check on it so I won't know yet if it leaks. I am only seeing bad reports and I can't work out if most of them leak or if just the people with leaks are posting on here. Hope I haven't got a leaky one.
Thanks

Hi - ours didn't leak. I posted a review on here a couple of weeks ago.
Like you. we were worried about going away in it having read all the reviews but it was fine. We had torrential rain and no leaks through the windows at all.
Do you think some of it has to do with them not being pegged out properly? I used to camp a lot in the nineties, so I know tents have changed somewhat but the principles must be the same - mine was tight as a drum and we never had leaks, yet others were sometimes a little slack so rain would collect on them. Just a thought x
I work in a camping shop and we've sold a lot of these but only had one back with problems. Unfortunately the replacement also had problems so I think the chap has been very unlucky :( We are sorting it out for him though.
Overall I think they are generally popular tents and Vango have not reported any construction/design problems under testing so it might just be a bad batch that has come through amongst the good? ANyone heard of anything like that happening?

Vango have actually not had any back yet for testing, this was posted a week or so ago by myself reference an email I had back from them and cannot currently comment on the problem people are reporting.
Sadly, ours leaks too! And so did the one opposite us on the campsite this weekend!
It's now back with Vango for testing, and hopefully fixing. We were told by the shop we got it from that the Vango rep said they've had "one or two" back with the exact same problem (leaking from bottom corners of the four external windows).
I do hope yours is one of the lucky ones that doesn't leak!
We had leaks from the windows during an extreme downpour the first time we used the Maritsa 700 on June but have just come back from 3 weeks away with 2 days of very heavy rain and no leaks at all.

Very dissapointed, took ours back got a refund, leaked like a sieve through the inner windows near the bedrooms, would Vango admit there is a problem, I found a lot of reviews on the net about the leaks, cant believe for a second Vango have not had any returned, wonder where mine went then. The tent was pitched correctly, but cannot see what that would have to do with the leaking windows.

People are not pegging out the vent flaps on the windows causing seepage from the two fabrics and the way they sit together (you'd need to see it up close to understand properly), this has been demonstrated from numerous photo's of the tent from users. Many tents are being reported as leaking lately, all of the market leaders in fact. Maybe you should read the condensation post as many people are confusing condensation with leaks due to a simple lack of understanding.
There are many users of the Maritsa 500 and 700 which have reported no leaks whatsoever from heavy downpours of rain. Maybe some people have just been REALLY unlucky or are just not putting up the tent the exact way it should be!?
I do object slightly to that message Gareth! We do know the difference between condensation and leaks - ours only "leaked" when it rained! And we also pegged it out correctly, window vents and all.
Ours went back to Vango for testing and they claimed they couldn't find any but they did reseal all the seams and when my husband went away recently with it in heavy rain it apparently leaked much less so somethign clearly has improved with the fixing.
Wish vango would just admit there's an issue and either recall or make it easier for people to get them fixed!
