Hi
We are new to camping and have just erected our Ohio xl in the garden attaching the new awning for the first time - but we're struggling. Is there a secret to putting the awning on because we couldn't make sense of the instructions from Outwell and can't find any demo videos to help. The tent went up quite easily, (we've done it a couple of times now) - this time we did it the Yeomans (Utube) way certainly less stressful and easier than the Outwell video but we struggled to line it up on the footprint this time :( Fitting the awning was a nightmare - does the centre guide rope stay on the main tent (inside the awning) - pretty sure it does but seems strange being right in the centre of the door way. How far does the awning canopy "envelope" the roof of the tent? We would be grateful for any advice you may have.
Thanks in anticipation.

If you have a look at the review section there are quite a few member pictures and some of them are with the awning. These might help you see how it looks attached. HTH.

Thanks Christine going to take a look now
That was really helpful and reassuring because looks like we did it okay - still concerned about the main tent front guide ropes though - one of the pictures looked like they were up but on the others they weren't we're wondering if the weather is windy/stormy you use them otherwise the awning takes the tension.

We don't have the same tent but one of ours does have a guy right off the front entrance. If it's calm we undo this so the space is more usable but always hook it back on if leaving the tent for any reason , before going to bed at night and as soon as there is any breeze to speak of. This is when using a front canopy.

there is an video in the Outwell website if you google outwell and then go to there family camping page... click on tents and then find your model....click on that....then to the side at the top there are some options....I only have the site in German but it must say something like set up or instructions....click on that and it gives you an option to download a video from them.....
Sorry i cannot do links or I would link you...we had the Ohioxl but not the awning....I do not think you have the guy in the middle though...

Thanks cj - I can't believe we never noticed that before - just taken a look and it confirms what we though.
So glad we found this site and forum and hopefully (when we have a little more experience) we may be able to pass on or offer advice too.
Thanks again.

Hi
We have this tent and awning The middle guy has to come down but i leave the two outside lines in i just take them realy close to the side of the tent .
When you put the ext on if you line up the top of the ext with the last top pole theline of stitching goes on the line of the pole if that makes any sense.
we did struggle the first time but now it is realy simple once you get it right.
NB WHEN IT IS REALY WINDY WE PUT THE CENTRE GUY BACK IN JUST ANGLE IT OF THE DOOR
Hope this helps

Hi again
It is the best tent we have had the pleasure to own. Ithas loads of space especialy with the ext on. We have no problems with the wind or rain it has stood up to all conditions with no problems at all. It can be a hand full pitching it in the wind though.
Happy Camping

Hi do not worry sandra I thought our tent was great but we had, had 3 faulty tents from the avantgarde range and I just could not cope with getting another avant garde tent after having 3 faulty ones..Especially when they are not cheap.
Thankfully we were able to return them all without problems....thanks to Camping and leisure world who said we had just been really, really unlucky.....That's why we are going for a different model in the hope that our luck changes.....still an outwell though.....like my carpets and hanging light holders and all the extras!!!!!
Enjoy camping in a great tent ......do not worry...

We put ours up for 4 nights....it seemed worth it...i think the more often you do it though the quicker you get...
also depends what weekend is... for just 2 nights it might seem a hassle...
some people go for a weekend tent....
