am looking forward to camping again after many years ( previously quite hardy doing scottish winters in my terra nova quasar, but finding out that family camping is another thing altogether!) Am single mum with 4 and 2 y old so would need to be able to pitch it myself . Cant decide between Yukon River 4 , Trout lake 4 and Robens Double Horizon ? I just discovered the Double Horizon but wondered why it doesnt have any user reviews on this forum - does not seem very popular?
All suggestions welcome!- ( also is it ok to use thermarests for children and not camp beds?)
thanks v much

we are biased towards Canvas as we also have young kids (just 5 and 3). And biased toward Dutch Pyramid tents as they are so easy to pitch

We have a Hypercamp Eldorado and do fine with 2 adults and 2 kids in there
Eldorado
a few others on here have the Djakarta, slightly smaller but fair bit lighter

Goes up so easily, even solo. And it is so cool in hot sunny weather the kids can sleep in it in the daytime no problem

Best thing we ever did was get self inflating mats for the kids (they have 5cm ones we have 10cm). Cosy, comfy and nothing to fall off. We got them sleeping bags but may go back to blankets and quilts, esp younger one doesnt seem to like the bag

Was looking around a Roben tent at our camping shop last week.
I really liked it and if I was looking for a tent then it would be one I would seriously consider.

The poles were good and I like the way they fitted and pitched (and the colour lol).
I loved the way the windoes and curtains and ventilation was and the material seemed good quality.

It was this Robens Cabin 500 but at a better price.

I had a look up of the Double Horizen and can't see anything that I wouldn't be happy with. It's Polycotton so better than a polyester one
Looks nice too

I have the Easy Camp Licata 400 as my weekend tent for me and 2 youngest sons (4 and 8)
I am a short, unfit mum of 3 and can pitch this on my own.
If you search the Net you can find it for less than £100 - BARGAIN!!

It is possible to pitch the Vango Icarus 500 on your own and at some point you could add a canopy or a premium extension to it. I'd say the Icarus is perfect for three, I'm a single parent with two kids but they are practically teenagers and my oldest likes to have his own small tent, my pics are in my gallery if you want to have a look.
