yeah i did wonder about attaching to the 4.2 if only to stand up to 2 kids and a boxer lol. Can't wait to get away with it!!!!

You really dont need to worry about attaching them together. They fit really snugly and when I used mine together in May/June in France we had one wet and windy night. Ok not a storm but enough rain to make me worry.
There was not a drop ..completely bone dry between the 2 tents. After that we didn't bother to zip up the door of the 4.2 and the door of the Base seconds that were together just the door of the Base Seconds that opened on the elements.
Warm and dry the whole time.

The guy in decathalon recommend to me that you put the base seconds canopy on top of the 4.1 or 4.2 canopy so it forms a better seal as the tents are slightly higher IYSWIM.
Just thought I would pass that on.
I am going to try the vango porch for now cos I have emptied my piggy bank.

That is what I did - it's the most logical given that we always pitched the 4.2 first and then added the base seconds.
