Hi,

I am new to this camping thing, and we have recently bought a new Havana 6 tent. We attempted to put the tent up in our garden as a trial, and failed when we attached the aluminium pole (red label) to the cross over flexible poles, and then attempted to insert the pin on the ring and pin tent attachment into the bottom of the ally pole, the strain on the ally pole bent it at the arc near the top, therefore losing all it strength!!

We followed the instructions (although vague), to the letter, losening the tension  in the straps on the ring and pins etc..

If anybody has experience of pitching this or similar type construction tents, ie, fibreglass poles over the top of the canopy, with Aluminium supports, tensioned by ring and pin attachements at the  bottom, I would really appreciate words of advice as to the best methods to do it. I don't believe I did anything wrong, but that doesn't mean I did it the best way!!

Many thanks in advance :-)

We have a havana too. I can honestly say to ignore the instructions. We have pitched ours a few times now. Once with me inside the tent pushing up the dome and hence taking the weight of the tent whilst hubby inserted poles and got the tent stable. Next we ignored the instructions and stabilised the tent by putting the poles in the back of the tent first and working forwards. Both ways worked better than the instructions!!!!

Hi, thanks for the response, we have cracked it now. We asked our camping shop for advice and the first thing he did was shred the instructions!! Explaining the chinese translation was not very clear - he also just replaced the bent pole we had free of charge!

Basically we attach red poles on one side first, and then with me holding them, my mrs. then goes to the other side and attachs another red and slowly pushes up the dome, I can then go round and attach the last red - once they are in the rest is easy :-)

Great. Glad you cracked. Hope you have as much fun in yr havana as we do. Ours withstood some major rainfalls and did not let in one drop of rain! I love it!!!
