Matt, 32 from Stoke on Trent and lookintg for our first family tent (wife to be and 3 young children, 5, 3 and under 1)
Ive been camping alot when i was younger in small dome tents but partner never been. I also always found Vango tents to be of good quality but seen the Outwell tents and they also look very good.
Which is better? a Vango tent ot Outwell tent?
Regards
Matt

IMHO there isn't much to choose. We've had Vango (Diablo 600) and Outwell (Hartford XXL) and both were brilliant. We currently have an Icarus 600 and we are planning on getting a Maritsa 700, both Vango, but that's only because there's nothing in the current Outwell range that floats our boat as much as the Vangos. I'd have either in a heartbeat.
We love Outwell, others love Vango, tbh there is not a lot to choose between them quality wise.
They are both excellent. It all depends on your own preference.Outwell might do a size/design that Vango don't and visa versa.

From what I have learnt so far I would say that they are both at the top of the scale quality wise. Personally at the moment we are saving for an Outwell Montana 6 but I to be totally honest this may change when we actually have the money and attend a camping show. I would suggest that you work towards a shortlist of say 2 or 3 tents read the owners reviews on this site to be really sur and then go and see them side by side to make the final decision. Remember that this will be a very important purchase as the rest of your camping enjoyment will depend on it.

We have had both but have moved more towards Outwell for the extra windows on the styles that we have currently plus we love the option of the kids room.
I have had both and they seem to be as good as each other, my only comment would be the Outwell's seem to be getting a bit pricey this year and the low end of the range don't seem to be of the usual quality.
I have a Vango at the moment but I would certainly buy another Outwell, never had any problems with them in the past.
Hi. Pop over to Stapeley Water Gardens, near Nantwich, and have a look. I was going to suggest the Yeoman's camping show at Trentham Monkey park, but that seems to have already happenned. There are others about if you look at the shows on the Yeoman's web site.
Personally, I prefer Vango but Outwell are also good tents.
Hi Matt- your kids are about the same age as mine! Unfortunately, I'm not the same age as you.
I looked at the Vermont L and the Monte Verde 700 on the same day; the quality is very similar. Outwell seem to put more money into presentation and marketing, which you, the customer, have to pay for...
The biggest step up in quality (and price) is to go for polycotton; I don't think Vango do polycotton though I may be wrong. Kampa do polycotton and they seem to be good quality tents as well.
Hi there...I too am from Stoke on Trent with a young family and we have the Vango Diablo 400 and its fab. I do love the kids room options in the outwells though. We attended the yeomans tent sale at the monkey park and look at some super vangos and outwells. I personally dont think there is much in it...they are seem to do the job brilliantly. I know staperly water gardens are holding their tent sale on 31st july.
Hope this helps!

Your stats are interesting Littleskink but Karsten come out even better than both. Stats are all OK but everyone has their own perspective on how they score their tents.

2014:
August: Scarborough, High Yedmandale. Not tenting though, using one of their lovely holiday homes!
I've got an Outwell but would be equally happy with a Vango.
As folks have said go for a layout that suits you. I'd also add that always add 2 to the manufacturers sleeping requirements and, as you have a young family, ensure the tent has sufficient living area for wet days as well as heat waves.
