Hi , I just wondered if anyone could advise which would be a better set up - I am mum with 2 small children .Initially was considering the 4.2 plus base full for extra living space but then wondered if 2x base fulls with one converted into a bedroom would be a better option ? am going a bit stir crazy looking at the Quechua website!

thanks very much

I was thinking about that very same scenario earlier, i would say there are pro's and cons to both setups.

I would say (in my opinion) that the 4.2 and Base Seconds is the better bet. Reason being that if you didn't/ couldn't take the Base Seconds then the 4.2 has a living area AND bedrooms all in one.

There might be times where you just don't need the extra space of the Base Seconds.

So, going by that I think the 4.2 and Base Seconds offers the most flexibility.

Hope that helps with the decision.

EDIT: On rereading I notice you mean the Base Full..... my reasoning still stands though. Also... the Full version may not be the best suited as it has "eyelids" that are intended to dock with the small Quechua popups. It would still fit I would think, but even so... So the XL or Seconds would be a better choice anyway.

Second Edit!: Tying myself up here too.... with 2 small kids in tow they will want to be in the same bedroom with you I would think? That being so, you'll be cramped in one pod in the 4.2 I would think. So 2 Base Seconds (or similar) *might* suite your needs better until the kids want to stay in a pod on their own.

Phew... home that makes sense! lol

We use a Base Seconds 4.2 with a Base Full docked to it and they dock together fine no problems. To the side of this, we dock a further small 1 or 3man (depending on who's with us!). However, they are pretty cumbersome when packed and both of them take up a fair bit of room in the boot.

The 4.1 as suggested looks fab (addicted, me?) and I reckon would suit you with two small kids fine, especially if they wanted to sleep in with you? And the advantage of that is its only one tent....

Hi ,

thanks for your help- now you've mentioned that might be a squeeze , 3 of us in the pod of 4.2 am thinking more likely to go for 2x base fulls. ( I am only choosing them rather than the base standards as like the option of being able to' open up' the 2 sides without doors for ventilation.)
I suppose if I were not needing so much space , I could use 1x base full with a small 3 man tent ( eg 2 second).
base 4,1 looked good , but only 1x door - like the fact that with base fulls have 2x doors.
so like you said not ideal having to take 2x tents but think that while children small , may be best option,

thanks very much for your help - will let you know how it goes!
