Hi everyone,

We recently ordred a Orchy 600 and footprint which arrived to day, as the kids were very excited we decided to put it up in the garden.  I am sad to sat both the footprint and the tent had a hole in them :( , i chose a Vango tent as i as under the impression there were of a good quality and am very disappointed as this is the first tent we have bought.

On a plus note the company i bought it from is being very good and collecting this tent and footprint and delivering a new ones on wedsnesday.  Hopefully all will be ok this time :) Plus we did mange to get it back in the bag :)

Has anyone else had this problem.

Thanks,

Wendy

Hi Wendy

We bought an Orchy 500 last year to try camping out and had no problems at all.  We also had the footprint and canopy and all stood up to some rain and wind really well.  I am sure it was just a one off but if the next one is damaged perhaps the supplier has been delivered a faulty lot and therefore you should get your money back and purchase it elsewhere.

Hi Wendy, not good for your first camping experience! At least you tested it first in the garden. We bought our Orchy 600 from Go Outdoors and didn't have any problems. I would take Montanagirls advice, it may be a one-off!

It would appear that the damage has happened after dispatch so I don't think that the quality is drawn into question. Don't what ever you do let this dampen your enthusiasm, you wait until you have your relacement tent on a beautiful site sitting in the sunshine with a very large gin & tonic in your hands and I am sure that everything will be ok with the world.

P.S. it's Wednesday now so has it arrived yet? get it put up and post some pics, I am sure that we would all like to see it!

Hiya yes it has arrived thanks but not sure how it could have happened after dispatch to be honest as the tent was rolled up, in a carry bag which was inside a plastic bag, inside a box.

We are hoping to put it up tomorrow weather permitting, as its forecast to rain :(

Hi new tent has arrived and all good however the footprint is split and to be honest i can't be bothered sending it back AGAIN so we are going to use some tape to fix it.

I would take a pic of the split on footprint ,phone or email them to complain and ask for a replacement to be sent saying you have to use this one right now . or a refund/part refund to be made for the damaged one .

We got out outwell nevada and were a bit shocked to see some 'pull' marks in the mosquito mesh - but as these seem to be on all of them and won't affect the performance we are just going with it - its annoying though, you expect new goods to be perfect.

There is also a 'bubble' in one of the windows - OH thought it was a hole, but it isn't so again not worth returning.

Maybe its a second so that's why it was so cheap? We got it new for £150 when they are normally £225 at least.

I know how you feel about not wanting to bother to send the footprint back and I would probably feel the same although half of me says send it back and don't let them get away with sending you shoddy goods...twice! Obviously the company you bought it from either doesn't check what it sends out or is sending seconds and selling them as new. Which company was it, so we don't all end up with shoddy goods?

With regards to 'pull marks' on the mosquito nets, if the Outwell Nevada is anything like my Outwell Carolina the marks are caused by the netting sticking to the velcro on the outside of the door frames. Bad design...perhaps the velcro should have been put on the other way round but then the door would probably stick to the netting.

Hi Bob61 i have to say when i rang the company first time they were very apologetic and arranged collection and delivery of replacements within 2 days so customer service was very good.  Not sure about naming and shaming as it may be a one off and don't want to tarnish reputations...

Well so much for a one off!! I have just noticed some small holes made by a needle but without the thread in on one of the seams to say i'm annoyed is putting it mildly, it will be going back and i will be getting a refund. :(
